Laser Skin Resurfacing

Clear + Brilliant®

Look your youthful best!

Clear + Brilliant® is a gentle fractional laser system used to help fight the early signs of aging. This preventative laser technology is comfortable, fast, safe for all skin types, and helps to refresh the overall appearance of the skin. This laser is for those who are looking to upgrade their anti-aging routine.

The Clear + Brilliant® laser system works by creating millions of microscopic treatment zones in the skin to promote healthy, rejuvenated-looking skin after the treatment. Your body replaces the laser-“damaged” skin with healthy tissue that looks brighter and younger.

At Radiance Medical Spa, we offer both the Clear + Brilliant® Perméa and the Original Clear + Brilliant® treatments.

Clear + Brilliant® Perméa

Perméa enhances the skin’s permeability to accept skincare products more effectively and, in turn, creates longer-lasting results from your medical-grade products. This treatment leads to a more revitalized appearance of the skin. The Perméa handpiece treats more superficially in the dermis at a 1927nm wavelength at a uniform depth. Perméa is ideal for “tone” and can address superficial sun damage and some pigmentation. Perméa is a bit more comfortable as it is a more superficial treatment.

The Original Clear + Brilliant®

This handpiece treats deeper into the dermis than the Perméa Clear + Brilliant® with a 1440nm wavelength. Original is ideal for treatment of “skin texture,” such as large pores, fine lines, rough skin, and sun damage. The original handpiece does not address pigmentations as well as Perméa, but it does build collagen deeper in the skin. After a single treatment, skin will feel softer with improved tone.

Clear + Brilliant® uses the patented Intelligent Optical Tracking System to ensure proper contact with skin and uniform application.

TREATMENT TIME
20 minutes

Recommended Frequency Of Treatments
We recommend a series of 4-6 treatments, one month apart for best results. A single treatment every 6 months to a year after your series of treatments will help to maintain results. Results will last a varying amount of time and will depend on genetics, sun exposure, continued skin care, and other factors.

Medications To Avoid Prior To Treatment
Please discuss with us your exact medication list – be sure to mention if you are taking any antibiotics. Please let us know if you have a condition known as porphyria (a condition that causes sensitivity to light). Photosensitizing medications, self-tanners, and sun exposure (tanning) should be avoided prior to treatment. In addition, gentle care of your skin a few days prior and after treatment is helpful.

Possible Side Effects
There is minimal downtime after the Clear + Brilliant® treatment. The treatment may feel a little warm and scratchy. The patient will have some slight redness for 12-24 hours.

Fraxel® Laser Resurfacing

Do you have etched-in wrinkles that do not go away even after BOTOX® Cosmetic or other cosmetic procedures? Wish you could have a smoother and more even skin tone without excessive downtime?

At Radiance Medical Spa we utilize the Fraxel® system for non-ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing. Fraxel® is an ideal treatment for:

The Fraxel® can be safely used to treat men and women of all ages, as well as on all areas of the body. Fraxel® is a dual fractionated laser that utilizes a 1550nm or 1927nm laser to treat different depths of the skin. The two depths are not treated during the same appointment. It is ideal to discuss your skin and aesthetic goals with your practitioner prior to treatment.

The 1550nm laser allows for deep skin penetration, which allows for stimulation of new collagen through the healing process of the skin treated. This laying down of new collagen leads to reduction of wrinkles, skin tightening, and improved skin texture.

The 1927nm laser penetrates the skin more superficially, allowing for improved skin tone by treating stubborn pigment.

The Fraxel® laser system is a fractionated, non-ablative laser system—meaning that the entirety of the dermis is not treated, but only a small portion. As more healthy tissue is able to be left untreated, this means faster healing, less discomfort, and less downtime.

Fraxel® may be used with a topical local anesthetic alone, or we also offer ProNox patient-administered, inhaled nitrous, and oxygen analgesia.

Treatment Time
30-minute treatment time. 60-minute numbing time prior.

Recommended Frequency Of Treatments
We recommend a series of 3-5 treatments, one month apart for best results. To maintain results, we often recommend a single treatment every 6 months to a year following your initial series of treatments. The effects will last a varying amount of time depending on each patient’s genetics, continued skin care, sun exposure, and other factors.

Medications To Avoid Prior To Treatment
Please discuss your exact medication list with us, and be sure to tell us if you are taking any antibiotics. Also, it is important to let us know if you are affected by a condition called porphyria, which causes light sensitivity. You should avoid self-tanners, sun exposure (tanning), and photosensitizing medications before treatment. It is also helpful to take gentle care of your skin for a few days before and after treatment.

Possible Side Effects
Tenderness, redness, or swelling for 1-7 days is common. A pins and needles sensation is common during the procedure. Patients MUST avoid direct sun exposure for 3-4 weeks after the treatment and wear sunblock every day for at least a month after the last treatment.

Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

In addition to microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and photofacials, we are proud to offer you an even more aggressive treatment for skin resurfacing – the ULTIMATE in skin rejuvenation – DEKA DOT Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing with Dr. Max Lehfeldt.

This FDA-approved treatment is ideal for:

Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing is a single treatment that lasts about an hour. It is performed in-office and is minimally invasive, low risk, and utilizes both oral and topical medications for comfort. For many patients, downtime is usually minimal and the treatment is ideal as it is customized by Dr. Lehfeldt to address the face, neck, and décolletage-specific issues. Dr. Lehfeldt can also treat the back of your hands and arms to reduce sun damage.

Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing with DOT Therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) is the new “standard” for skin rejuvenation. DOT therapy creates microscopic “holes” in your skin surface that stimulate new collagen growth and tightening. Patients are amazed at how tight and firm their face, neck, and décolletage feels after this amazing procedure. Healing is accelerated by preserving fine “bridges” of skin and there is much less downtime and risk compared with traditional non-fractional CO2 laser resurfacing.

Fractional CO2 resurfacing works best for light-complexion patients; darker skin patients are not ideal candidates for this treatment.

It is performed by Dr Lehfeldt at our Pasadena office.

When Will I See Results?*
You may feel some of the tightening effects almost immediately after treatment; however, results should improve significantly over the next few months as new collagen is formed.

How Long Will These Results Last?*
Every individual ages differently. Results typically last 3-5 years but depends on how well you care for your post-treatment results. Ideal post-treatment care will include staying out of the sun, wearing sunscreen, and basic daily skin care.

Treatment Time
About one hour but it depends on how many areas you are treating. Treatment will include topical numbing and oral medications. Most people only require one treatment, but some may require a second session about one month after the first treatment to ideally address severe wrinkling or deep scars. These issues will be addressed during your consultation with Dr. Lehfeldt.

Medications To Avoid Prior To Treatment
Discuss with us and your primary physician your exact medication list prior to stopping, but typically avoid your blood thinners (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, omegas, flaxseed oil, fish oil, vitamin D3, and vitamin E) for 3-5 days prior to your treatment.

Possible Side Effects
Most commonly feels like a sunburn with redness; there may also be some irritation and swelling. By the third or fourth day, you will experience some peeling. In most cases, your skin will return to its normal appearance at about 7-10 days. Depending on your skin type and the aggressiveness of the treatment, your skin may be pink for 2-3 weeks. This can easily be concealed with makeup after about four days. During the post-treatment phase, you will need to apply a lotion to keep skin moist and help with healing. Very rare chance of burns or infection.
